Southeastern Federal Credit Union
VALDOSTA
A few years back, Southeastern Federal Credit Union welcomed a man in his 30s as a new member. He’d never had a bank account or any credit. What he did have were a lot of tattoos. He commented at the time that his appearance often made it dif cult for him to nd employment.
After about a year, he visited the branch and asked about building his credit. He had been employed for more than a year and had maintained a healthy monthly balance in his checking account.
The credit union granted him a small share secured loan. Next, he opened a small line of credit and progressed to a credit card. He was educated about the types of transactions that have positive and adverse effects on his credit score. He has been careful to follow the credit union’s advice and has never been late on a payment to date.
The member continues to stop by regularly to ask questions or to get a second opinion from those he thinks of as his personal trusted advisors.
The credit union never cared how he looked and wasn’t interested in his tattoos. It was, however, interested in helping yet another member better their nancial situation and achieve their life goals.
