The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Home Price Index just recorded 20.4% year-over-year growth nationally and a record 21.2% growth for its top 20 city composite, and now you know why my most significant concern for housing was home prices overheating, not crashing like people have warned about from 2012-2021.

Landscaping on a budget doesn't mean settling for a shabby-looking yard. From plants to patios, from window boxes to water features, you can save money while designing an attractive yard.

Many homeowners obsess over controlling lawn weeds. Their obsession drives them to spend money unnecessarily on weed killers such as crabgrass killers. If they are successful in these witch-hunts against weeds, the result may look good but produces an unhealthy monoculture.

WorkersI graduated with a Master's degree and moved into my boyfriend's San Diego apartment a few months ago. We generally figured we'd save money living together, but beyond that, there wasn't a financial plan, let alone a budget.

They didn't teach budgeting in college (or high school, for that matter). The economy, however, seems to be teaching its own Master's course: sticking to a realistic budget – or any budget -– when prices keep rising.
