FAMILY FIRST CREDIT UNION
HAPEVILLE, ROSWELL
An older, married couple and long-time members of Family First Credit Union were each diagnosed with terminal illnesses in 2014 and 2015. The husband was facing terminal cancer and the wife, ALS. As the couple’s health began impeding their physical abilities, making it difficult to manage their daily responsibilities, a Family First employee took notice.
Having worked at Hospice previously, she understood the assistance the couple needed. She encouraged the couple to find a trustworthy family member to assume responsibility for their finances. The couple’s daughter stepped up to the task and the credit union helped set her up on the accounts. The couple could rest a little easier knowing one big responsibility was now in the hands of a trusted family member.
The husband has since lost his battle with cancer. The wife, although physically incapacitated and requiring 24/7 care, is still a loyal member and forever grateful for the helpful advice and assistance she received. And every month when her daughter calls the credit union to handle her mom’s finances, the rep makes sure the daughter passes along a “Hello” just to let her mom know she is always thinking of her.
