  NORTH GEORGIA CREDIT UNION
HARTWELL, LAVONIA, TOCCOA
A North Georgia Credit Union employee fondly remembers a sweet, teenage member visiting the office daily just to make deposits and withdrawals from her savings. One day, the young member mentioned she relied on her savings account because she didn’t know how to use a checking account and feared she would take it into the negative with a a debit card.
The employee quickly realized this was simply an educational and confidence issue. She sat down with the member and showed her how to balance her account, review her transaction history and ultimately, manage her money. She worked with the member each time she visited the branch until the she was actively and responsibly managing her checking account and debit card use on her own.
The credit union employee commented, “I was always taught that being financially responsible could lead to a more productive life and I try to give our members the best foot moving forward. I am proud that this teen is more confident and financially aware today than she was yesterday.”
