2022 FiCEP Registration is now open.
The LSCU and the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation (SECUF) partner with CUNA to offer a unique financial counseling training program for credit union staff, the enhanced Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP). The program combines the affordability and convenience of a self-study program with group hands-on learning and networking.
Individuals who successfully complete all eight modules and the exam earn their Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation.
2022 FiCEP Important Dates
Credit unions with certified financial counselors on staff are better able to demonstrate the credit union difference, grow product and service revenue, and attract new members. Designed for credit union staff who work in the financial counseling, collections, and loan departments, or any other staff members who are committed to helping members improve their financial well-being, CUNA’s FiCEP program teaches credit union staff how to counsel members so they can budget better, save smartly, pay down debt and plan for the future.

Your credit union’s educational investment is a maximum of $799 per participant for affiliated credit unions. Eligible credit unions with assets under $50 million can use their $1,000 Small CU Initiative Funds account. SECUF scholarships may also be available.

*Additional $50 proctoring fee per person may apply if not able to attend the scheduled virtual testing or make-up testing dates.

If you earned your Certified Financial Counselor designation three or more years ago, you are encouraged to complete continuing education to keep your certification. To recertify, CUNA has the following two options available:
Register to attend CUNA’s eSchool, either live or recorded; or
Self-study by purchasing the latest book (pdf or printed). Books can be purchased through the SECUF at $399 and include:
*As of 2020, CUNA has stated an exam is no longer required for recertification.
